The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that Hurricane Norbert was downgraded to category I, at 22:00 pm Central Time Mexico, and has maximum sustained winds of 140 km / hr, gusting to 175 km / hr and moving west-northwest at 13 km / hr.
Through a statement, the Conagua reported that Norbert is located 330 kilometers west-northwest of Cabo San Lazaro and 260 km south of Punta Eugenia, both points in Baja California Sur.
He added that heavy rains favor Norbert (75 to 150 mm) at points of Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa and Nayarit; very strong (50 to 75 mm) in areas of Baja California; strong (25 to 50 mm) in sites of Jalisco and Michoacán, and showers of 0.1 to 25 mm in Colima.
The agency said that the system will maintain high waves of 2-4 meters high and winds gusting to 90 km / hr on the western coast of Baja California, and 2 meter waves and winds up to 60 km / hr on the coasts of Sinaloa and southern Sonora.
The alert zone remains active tropical storm on the west coast of Baja California Sur, from Puerto San Andresito to Punta Eugenia.
A maritime navigation recommended extreme caution, because of the strong gusts of wind and storm surge with increase in sea level of up to 1 meter in height above normal.
He recalled that the constant rains soften the soil and possibly could register mudslides, landslides, overflowing rivers and streams, or encumbrances on roads and road sections, as well as flooding or saturation of drains in urban areas, it is recommended follow signs for Civil Protection and state and municipal authorities.
