A flight of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) from Kuala Lumpur to Hyderabad, India, Saturday turned by a defect in the automatic pilot of the plane, the airline said in a statement.
Flight MH198 departed Kuala Lumpur at 10:20 pm (local time) and returned at 2:10 am, with all passengers and crew safe, Reuters reported.
"The defect had no impact on the safety of the aircraft or passengers, however, as a precaution the captain decided to turn around," said MAS.
The loss-making airline has had a difficult year after the disappearance of flight MH370 in March and the downing of flight MH17 Ukraine in July when flying.
Last month, MAS announced that it would eliminate one-third its workforce of 20,000 employees and reduce their global routes as part of a restructuring to save 6,000 million Malaysian dollars (1,900 million) after the devastating impact of the two air tragedies.
