Nigeria closes schools nationwide by ebola

The Nigerian government ordered all primary and secondary schools nationwide as part of measures to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus, which has killed at least 427 thousand dead in West Africa. 

The school year, which was to begin next Monday, to begin on 13 October, as agreed between the Nigerian Ministry of Education and the 36 states that make up the country, The Punch newspaper reported. 

The ministry seeks this measure give her time to train faculty in the detection and management of suspected cases of Ebola, which is transmitted by direct contact with infected bodily fluids. 

For the new school year, each school shall immediately designate two people who will be trained against Ebola and will liaise with the Ministry of Health for possible cases. 



Nigeria is one of the four countries concerned with the Ebola virus, with five deaths among the 16 confirmed and probable cases.
