Celebrate legislators sanction Dragon Mart

After confirming the penalty imposed by federal authorities to the project developer Dragon Mart in Cancun, Quintana Roo, PAN and PRD legislators celebrated the PROFECO performance. 

Deputy Graciela Saldaña remembered were the actions taken by it, together with the PRD and various organizations, which denounced the lack of environmental permits to start the works. 

The lawmaker said Quintana Roo was two years of paperwork and formal requests for information from all agencies to investigate these types of projects, so he demanded a formal challenges outstanding in lag and tracking procedures is given. 

In response lawmaker Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) called the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) and the Ministry of Environment to be vigilant of the processes that are open and working in coordination. 



He stressed that insist that the Ministry of Economy issued an opinion and an analysis of the impacts that would Dragon Mart for the country and Quintana Roo. 

Saldaña Fraire said that the authority should not only punish seven million environmental damage that caused the project, so he warned that will act denounced all related institutions to be finally closed. 

For his part, Senator Daniel Avila of the National Action Party (PAN), said that this project lacked federal environmental approval and must obtain before starting work. 

He said the federal agency announced that in addition to economic sanctions fines totaling just over seven million two hundred thousand dollars, the company will have to make, with a specified six corrective action. 

These measures range from submitting the project to process environmental impact assessment to the Ministry of Environment, through the restoration of the site, said. 

The senator added that this will present a program of ecological restoration, characterization studies of flora and fauna and hydrology of the site, plus a reforestation program of the jungle.
