Freetown. Sierra Leone is preparing for three days to confine the entire population and try to contain the spread of Ebola, which has killed over 500 people in this West African country.
The move coincides with an emergency meeting of the Security Council of the UN to consider a proposed resolution of EU global response to the virus.
Sierra Leone is one of three countries, along with Liberia and Guinea, most affected by the outbreak of Ebola.
The 6 million people will have to stay at home while about 30,000 volunteers will go to the homes for possible bodies or persons affected by the virus.
The campaign "to Ose Ose Ebola Tok" ("talk about Ebola house by house" in Krio) will be conducted by teams who want to visit 7,000 1.5 million households.
Volunteers distributed soap, explain to the inhabitants prevention and encourage neighbors to create groups of "vigilance".
The government said that teams will not enter houses but will call the emergency services if corpses or sick detected.
We have also installed additional beds in schools and hospitals around the country.
2,500 people have died from the outbreak of the Ebola virus so far this year.
