The phenomenon is due to having the closest approach to Earth's natural satellite in its elliptical orbit.
It is the third super moon this year and the third consecutive month in which it is given.
The previous two were on 12 July and 10 August.
During the early hours of Tuesday it remained mostly cloudy across much of the Valley of Mexico, but still the moon was seen for a while.
The phenomenon is visible worldwide, when weather conditions permit, because the moon is seen up to 15 percent brighter and seven percent larger.
Two matches were presented in this super moon, one of them is that rose in the east, just as the sun was setting in the west and both bodies were aligned with the earth, a phenomenon called perigee.
Takes place every year at least one super moon, the next will be 30 next August.
