Argentina are in the largest of the dinosaurs

Skeleton belongs to an animal whose body mass could be calculated more accurately. After research at a university in USA, will be taken to their home country

Scientists discovered the fossilized skeleton in Argentina of a new species of dinosaur that weighed as much as a dozen African elephants or seven Tyrannosaurus rex and constitutes the largest land animal whose body mass could be calculated more accurately.

Researchers at Drexel University in the city of Philadelphia, estimates that the animal, which they christened as Dreadnoughtus schrani had to be alive about 26 meters long and weighing about 65 tons.

The team highlights the number of parts of the skeleton found, 70% of the bones, not counting the head, allowing them to calculate these measures as accurately made so far by scientists.

That will allow them to study more precisely the anatomy and biomechanics of the different types of dinosaurs, the largest animals that ever walked the Earth.

"Dreadnoughtus schrani was incredibly huge," said Kenneth Lacovara, associate in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Drexel University, who discovered the fossil skeleton in southern Patagonia in Argentina and led the excavation and the study.

"I weighed as much as a dozen or more African elephants seven Tyrannosaurus rex" Lacovara said that bone that evidence shows that when the dinosaur died was not fully developed said.

The paleontologist said "it is by far the best example we have so far of any more giant creatures that walked on the planet"
