The Apple company noticed today a security flaw that could have allowed hackers to access the accounts of iCloud, storage service on the Internet and steal private photos of Hollywood stars.
The vulnerability was detected after Sunday began to spread over several hundred websites nude photos of celebrities, whose origin would be one of the pirates involved in the raid on iCloud.
The news portal technology Engadget reported that the flaw was exposed in detail in hosting site GitHub code.
The vulnerabilities have been found by the Find My iPhone service, which would have allowed the pirates used this method to decrypt passwords attacks by so-called "brute force" testing at high speed after another until a key unlock the account.
From there, the hackers might have been able to figure out the user ID and password system on the Apple (Apple ID) and access your iCloud storage.
Among the celebrities affected by the distribution of photos are Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, star of "The Hunger Games" series, along with Victoria Justice, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kate Upton and Kirsten Dunst, among others.
Apple began to solve the vulnerability on Monday, hours after the attack was known and reported investigating the alleged rape of multiple iCloud accounts.
"We take user privacy very seriously and are actively researching this report," said Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) also investigates the violation of the privacy of celebrities.
More than 350 million users of iPhone and iPad have iCloud accounts.
