Social networks spread the "bullying" with Viral Videos

The magnitude acquiring bullying or "bullying" between primary and secondary internationally greatly increased thanks to the web. Currently the humiliations and beatings tend to be videotaped and uploaded to the Internet ... and are seen worldwide.

Social networks take a role in this problem. In the videos they acquire a viral character that marks a propensity among children to try to perform or consummate cases of extreme violence seen in this environment.

"Harassment, persecution, violation of privacy, social exclusion and expose partners in a video are constants. Are specific behaviors 'cyberbully' characteristics, "said Dr. Julio Prieto Herminio Pepper, Anahuac Research and Educational Services in an interview with El Universal.

The percentage of physical aggression among students grows ever wider. In Mexico it was reported that in 2011 recorded cases of "bullying" reached 30%, while for 2013 increased 40%, according to the National Commission of Human Rights.

Globally, secondary, the list of the International Study of Teaching and Learning OECD (TALIS, for its acronym in English) consulting teachers, brand Mexico as the leading country with more violence among students by having 10.8% of cases recorded weekly; the country followed another as Cyprus, with 7.3% of cases; France, 7.0%, and Brazil, with 6.7%.

Aggression between peers have always existed, but technology takes another form. The "bullying", I studied for 40 years, is manifesting itself in different ways, says Dr. Prieto.

Many of the cases in social networks are often ignored by authorities, leaving offenders unpunished for their crimes. However, the problem has become a trend due to viralización they acquire on the web and can influence others to do the same.

"We could say it's a fad, but it is mainly the type of abuser acting. The videos can influence, but what determines the behavior of the 'cyberbully' are the external and internal characteristics of the subject, "explains Julio pepper.

According to the study by Herminio Pepper, entitled "The 'cyberbullying' in upper secondary education in Mexico: progress of a case study in a state high school", a total of eight thousand 675 students between 15 and 17 years, between 11% and 16% revealed that they have carried out behaviors "cyberbullying."

The study was conducted at a state high school for 40,000 students in northern Mexico, where it is believed that "bullying" is more significant for its proximity to the United States.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), "violence is a major cause of death worldwide for people aged 15 to 44 years."

Warn of more suicide

In the case of "cyberbullying" that mainly affects children and which arises in school settings, WHO said that if he can not be stopped by 2025 about 85,000 suicides a year in the world will occur.

Currently on social networks like YouTube, for example, to write the word "bullying" in the search field, the portal returns a total of two million 490 thousand results. Typing "schoolyard fight" the social network revealed a total of 46 thousand 800 tickets, of these, 15 out of 20 videos showing fights between students with cell recorded and promoted in this environment, each with over a thousand views.

Thus, it is simple to find images in this network even become disruptive.
