Plagiarism, an uncomfortable "tribute" to the music

Writing Culture, Aug 21 (EFE) Shakira .- has faced the first ruling by a judge in New York who understands that "Crazy" is a plagiarism of "Loca your tiguere" composed in 1998 by Ramón Arias Vasquez, but his is by no means the only case of copying, often justified as a "tribute" to the original music.
The story about the song and the Colombian penalty cost him a record the video clip mounted on a motorcycle without wearing a helmet mandatory and getting into a source of Barcelona is, at best, confusing and dates back to 2012, when the record Mayimba Music, which owns the rights issue Vásquez Arias claimed legally required to Sony for plagiarism.

New York Judge Alvin Hellerstein has determined that both the "Loca" Shakira has become popular as the song that was inspired, "his tiguere Loca" (neighborhood kid), Edward Bello Pou Dominican "El Cata" with which, to make matters worse, sings a duet version in Spanish, are plagiarized.
Cuevaas Marti, president of the Latin Recording Mayimba, located in New York, explained to Efe that the trial will continue in September of plagiarism lawsuit, a second phase in which the damages caused by the alleged copy is discussed.
"We are pleased to have defended copyright Ramon successful," said Cuevas, who does not want to add any further comment on the case because the trial has not yet concluded.
Just today, Ramón Vásquez Arias said the website of the Colombian RCN Radio Shakira "only bought the theme song who claimed to be his own."
Similar suspicions have fallen on plagiarism numerous internationally renowned artists such as Mexican Luis Miguel, Julio Iglesias and the Spanish American Michael Jackson.
"The Sun", also known as Luis Miguel, was found guilty of plagiarism by the Spanish composer Juan Carlos Calderón and Warner Music Mexico, to use the theme "I feel our breath," Lifshitz, to create success "loving you is a pleasure. "
The Spanish Julio Iglesias was on the verge of losing in 1996 one of its many properties, "Moments", because one of his ballads, "Morriñas" by refusing, initially, to pay restitution of $ 352,542 to the composer Norberto Moreno, author of the song that was claimed.
In 2001, the "King of Pop" was acquitted of the charge of plagiarism Al Bano after eight years of litigation, but six years later, a Brussels court ruled that "You are not alone", signed by Jackson and R. Kelly in 1996, was a copy of "If we can start all over", of Eddy and Danny Van Passe Belgians. So is well placed to twelve years of wrangling in court.
Another singer who has committed the "homage" to the original author is artistic Madonna. A court in Belgium found many similarities between "Frozen" Diva and "Ma vie fout le camp", Salvatore Acquaviva, who 19 years ago decided to ban the sale and issuance in the country's popular theme of "Queen of Pop ".
Even Tinseltown is saved from this inspiring wave, and the Academy Awards rewarded the soundtrack of the movie "The Postman", signed by Luis Bacalov, which included over your footage snippets of tango "Honeysuckle" as a relevant part of the plot.
Bacalov claimed composition, a fact that also dragged before the judge the film's director, Michael Radford, and producers of it.
The legislation establishes a minimum of 3 to 8 repeated measures to consider a song plagued by country, a figure that fell short was the "O mask" of Roberto Carlos, who according to the judgment of plagiarism that befell him and Erasmus Carlos, copied to 12 "Follies of love" by Sebastiao Braga.
