The Spanish power company Iberdrola construction began in Mexico Pier II wind farm, with 66 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, which will become the fourth installment of the multinational renewable energy in the country.
The investment in the wind farm, which will have 33 turbines Gamesa G97 model of 2 MW each, to be about $ 120 million.
The project is located in the municipality of La Esperanza, one of the windiest areas of Puebla, and is the first facility to Iberdrola designed by using the supercomputing system called SEDAR (Wind Simulation of High Resolution).
This tool allows you to place turbines in locations with the greatest potential energy production through an analysis that considers the entire lifetime of the installation.
Iberdrola will use from now through supercomputing design in all those wind farms arising in locations with complex terrain, such as Pier II, which will be built at an altitude of about 2000 500 meters.
"When the Pier II park becomes operational, will provide renewable energy to 25,000 Mexican households, avoiding the atmospheric emission of 55,000 tonnes of CO2 per year," said a statement on the electrical
"The project will have a significant impact on the state of Puebla, as is planned hiring more than 400 local employees, both to undertake the works and to subsequently perform operation and maintenance tasks, and some 15 companies area will also benefit, "the Spanish multinational chaired by José Ignacio Sánchez Galán.
Iberdrola will carry out the project with a local partner, the Mexican company Impulsora American Energies (ILER).
"This is a leading company in the promotion of wind power plants in this country and its shareholders include the Mexican multinational group Apia XXI MABE and a Spanish engineering company," says electrical then specify that it has signed an agreement with ILER to jointly build up to 366 megawatts in the area in the coming years.
When you start the complex Puebla, Iberdrola wind power will reach a run in Mexico almost 600 MW, making it a leader in private production of electricity in the country.
"Iberdrola already has installed 230 MW of wind power in the country and spread over three sites in the state of Oaxaca parks: La Venta III, in the town of Santo Domingo de Ingenio and 102 MW La Ventosa, in the town of Juchitan Zaragoza and 102 MW and Bee Nee Stipa, in the town of Espinal and 26 MW, "concludes the Spanish electricity.
