"I am thrilled to be alive," said the doctor who beat Ebola USA

"I woke up feeling a little sick and then my life took an unexpected turn because I was diagnosed with the disease," he said, explaining how he became aware of his deteriorating health.

Kent Brantly, 33, is the first patient to be treated internationally in the serum after ZMapp contracted the disease in Liberia for his humanitarian work with infected patients.
