Colombia dropped two places between 2008 and 2013, corresponding to 26 percent, according to Alfredo Gonzalez, undp specialist for Latin America, "though there are advances in access to health and education, which weighs more is the income inequality that in Colombia is very high, "as the daily El Tiempo said.

Argentina maintained its position 49 and is part of the group of countries with very high human development, and Chile, the best positioned in the region, is ranked 41, after losing a place.
Internationally, Norway, Australia, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United States are in the top five, while the latter occupy countries like Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso, among others.
