The lack of time, fatigue caused by work and health problems are the most common reasons that 57.6 percent of Mexicans age 18 and over living in urban areas do not participate in sports or exercise.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reported that the total inactive population, the majority are women with 60.2 percent of the total, according to the results of Module Physical Exercise and Sports Practice (Mopradef) conducted in 32 cities the first days of May 2014.
In a statement, the institution stated that the proportion of inactive women is higher than men in all age groups and the highest percentage, 73.8 percent among those aged 55 or more is recorded.

The institute said that people who do sport referred to as main motivations to exercise for health reasons, to look good as well as fun and most of them do it in the morning.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a practice a week moderate aerobic physical activity for at least one hour 30 minutes or one hour 15 minutes of vigorous aerobic physical activity, in order to improve cardiorespiratory and muscular functions, bone health and reduce the risk of noncommunicable diseases and depression.
