Sign Coahuila gay marriages

Coahuila gave the "yes" to marriage between persons of the same sex. 

Governor Ruben Moreira yesterday promulgated amendments to the Civil Code of the State which granted the recognition of so-called gay marriage, approved by Congress on August 30. 


After the decree published in the Official Gazette tomorrow State, Coahuila will be the second entity, after Mexico City, to approve the marriage between same sex. 

"Today the differences end," Moreira said during the official ceremony, "thanks to the legislators a wall collapsed discrimination legislation. 


"I hope that this will help boost the respect and end up with higher walls that rose with the hard walls of ignorance, resentment, prejudice and it is terrible to say, in many cases, bad faith." 

The reforms that led to the equal marriage were proposed on March 5, 2013 by Congressman Samuel Acevedo Flores, the Social Democratic Party of Coahuila. 

The initiative, was removed from the text of the Civil Code restrictions indicated that marriage was only between man and woman. To same-sex couples is also granted the right to adoption. 

The amendment specifies aspects such as the fact that registering a child's parents or mothers must choose the order to take their surnames.
