Floods in Pakistan and India claim the lives of 140 people

The death toll from severe flooding in northern Pakistan and India amounted to 140, while forecasts say the bad weather will continue in the coming days. 

According to Pakistani authorities, in the state of Punjab, neighboring India, the number of deaths rose to 57 and in the part of Kashmir belongs to Pakistan totaling 15 deceased. 

The Pakistan army has asked the population to leave their homes, carrying their belongings, after a significant number of deaths were recorded by the collapse of the housing. 



In Muzaffarabad, two roads that connect the city with the rest of Pakistan have been blocked by landslides. 

In the part of Indian-controlled Kashmir, a region disputed both countries, flooding has worsened because of heavy rains that have fallen in the past four days. This Friday 28 deaths were reported in the area. 

At least 70 people have died in northern India since they initiated the climate setbacks last Tuesday under the worst rains in 22 years in the troubled region. 

Heavy rains and flooding have hampered efforts to recover the bodies. Schools have been closed and the army has joined rescue operations. 

South Kashmir is the most affected area, many areas of the capital of Srinagar are flooded and people are sending messages asking the emergency rescuers and boats to be moved to safer places. 

A bus carrying a wedding couples fell into a stream in the Rajouri district. Four bodies have been recovered five kilometers downstream from where the bus crashed. At least 60 people are feared dead in the tragedy.
