Dolly landfall tonight in Tamaulipas

Tropical Storm Dolly continues in the Gulf of Mexico heading towards the coast of Tamaulipas, Mexico, where it is expected to come ashore this evening, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in the United States.

At 11:00 local time (16:00 GMT) the center of the storm was located 140 kilometers east of La Pesca and moving west-northwest at a speed of 26 kilometers per hour.

On the forecast track, the center of Dolly will approach the coast of Mexico tonight and will move onto land during the night. Some slight strengthening is possible after the center moves over land, the hurricane center said.
Mexican authorities maintain a tropical storm warning from Cabo Rojo to El Mezquital.

A tropical storm watch means that conditions are expected in the warning area within the next 12 hours, the hurricane center said.

Dolly is expected to produce rainfall amounts of 12 to 25 inches with isolated maximum amounts up to 38 inches across much of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon.

As in northern Veracruz and eastern San Luis Potosi until Wednesday night.

These rains are likely to produce landslides and flash floods that could endanger the lives of people, the NHC said in its report.
