The earthquake that occurred at 20:02:55 pm, was centered 16 kilometers east of Iquique, and occurred at a depth of 50.5 kilometers.
As reported by the Onemi result of the earthquake "25,000 customers of the commune of Iquique and 6,600 in the town of Alto Hospicio were affected by power outage, which was standardized at 20:50 hours."
A shot which joined in "41 and 42 kilometers of Route A -16 connecting the towns of Iquique and Alto Hospicio, which were resolved by the concessionaire."
Also as stated by the SHOA, the earthquake does not qualify to generate a tsunami along the coasts of the country.
Minutes after the quake, at 20:10 hours, another quake of lesser intensity (magnitude 3.8 °) affected the area.
