At least fifteen people were killed and eight others are missing following a landslide terrain in southwest China, Xinhua said Friday the agency.
A previous balance indicated 8 dead and 17 missing.
In addition, 22 others were injured.
This landslide from about 600 feet high buried a village near the city of Fuquan, Guizhou province, the official Chinese agency said.
Heavy rain complicated rescue efforts, according to the source.
At least 77 houses were under the earth and debris after the disaster, according to Xinhua.
The province of Guizhou, one of the poorest in the Asian giant is renowned for its rugged terrain and high rainfall.
The mining industry is one of the largest in the region, however, soil erosion, among the worst in China, has ravaged 42 percent of the province, according to official statistics dating from 2009.
Meanwhile, the neighboring province of Yunnan was affected during this month by an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 degrees on the Richter scale, which killed over 600 people.
