The Human Rights Committee of Tabasco (CODEHUTAB) required the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) and the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) to investigate the environmental damage generated spills and Pemex will apply the law to the company.
"Definitely Profepa and SEMARNAT must act and require Pemex to repair the environmental damage generated, but also citizens who feel affected can proceed legally, if they have suffered damage to their land," said spokesman CODEHUTAB Efraín Rodríguez León.
According to Pemex, it is the fifth spill generated by illegal milking pipeline in the last 37 days.
