Expires on Gaza truce and resumed firing rockets

At eight o'clock (seven in mainland Spain), has expired 72-hour truce between Israel and Palestinian factions Sarraj: Hamas and Jihad Islámica- without having reached an agreement to extend it, as suggested by the Government on Wednesday Israeli. The negotiations, however, remain open in Cairo (Egypt), where both delegations are seated at the table. While on the ground, Palestinian militants resumed rocket fire, according to Israeli police and municipal sources, and have become air raid sirens sounded in the cities of southern Israel.

The Army has stated on his Twitter account that for the first time since the end of the ceasefire, have launched more than 10 rockets from Gaza into southern Israel. One was intercepted by the Israeli missile defense system, Iron Dome, on the town of Ashkelon. Other, less intense, has not managed to cross the border and has fallen into Palestinian territory. The others have fallen on the open without being informed of casualties or damage. Three hours before the end of the ceasefire, two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, and also landed in open fields. Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility for the shooting.

Egypt's efforts, traditional mediator in the conflict in recent days have focused on achieving an extension of the truce at least two more days. Israelis and Palestinians have held talks, always indirectly, in order to achieve a lasting cease-fire or at least an extension of the truce to continue negotiating.
