Authorities in China's southwestern Yunnan province reported today that the death toll due to Sunday's powerful earthquake rose today to 617, while 112 people remain missing.

The updated figures this afternoon said Ludian County 526 reports of the deceased, the Qiaojia Huize 78 and 12.
In addition to the 112 missing, the spokesmen said three thousand 143 were injured today.
The earthquake of 6.5 degrees of intensity occurred last Sunday and the epicenter was 12 kilometers deep in the city of Longtuoshan belonging to Ludian.
