At least 14 people were injured yesterday in a clash of two double-decker tour buses in the bustling Times Square in New York, according to the fire department of the city.
Three of the injured suffered serious injuries, although none of them life is in danger, while the rest suffered minor damage, officials said. The accident occurred when a bus loaded with tourists veered off the road, knocking down a traffic light and striking another bus, according to witnesses quoted by local media.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged by the collision, which occurred in one of the busiest areas of New York, just a few meters from the popular box office where tickets to Broadway shows and where usually hundreds of people concentrate sold. According to various media, most of the injured were pedestrians who were at the intersection of 47th Street and Seventh Avenue.
