The storm "Arthur" is directed towards North Carolina, USA

Tropical Storm "Arthur" is directed toward the coast of North Carolina with winds of 110 kilometers per hour, and could become a hurricane on Thursday, reported the National Hurricane Center U.S. (CNH). 

The NHC, located in Miami (Florida), reported in its bulletin at 03.00 GMT on Thursday that the center of the storm was located about 260 km south-southeast of Charleston, South Carolina. 

U.S. authorities issued a hurricane warning-step system in 36 hours, for the coast of North Carolina, from Surf City to Duck, Pamlico Sound and the eastern part of Albemarle Sound. 

One tropical storm warning for South Santee River, South Carolina is also activated, to the south of Surf City. 

The center of the storm was located near latitude 30.6 north and longitude 79.1 west, moving north at a speed of 13 km / hour. 



A turn toward the north-northeast on Thursday, when the storm is expected to be even closer to the coasts of South and North Carolina during the day and Thursday night. 

The NHC forecast a further strengthening of the storm in the next few hours, so that "Arthur" would become tonight or Thursday in the first hurricane of the season in the Atlantic basin. 

Storm surge can cause the storm in coastal areas would be also accompanied by large and destructive waves, according to the weather center. 

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration U.S. (NOAA) has predicted a less active hurricane season than normal, with the formation of 8 to 13 tropical storms, of which between 3 and 6 come to hurricanes and one or two of them would be of a higher grade.
